The Horse Game
Helmi Vill Urvaste (1965)
Mängijad on ringis, üks tüdruk ringi keskel hobuseks. Poiss väljaspool ringi on hobuse otsija ja püüab läbi ringi “hobust” kätte saada.
The players stand in a circle with one girl as the horse in the middle of the ring. A boy outside of the circle is the horse buyer. He tries to grab the “horse” through the circle.
Lät´si ma mõisa mõtsa viirde,
ol´lalii-lel´lalii,
nakas´ hammas halutõmõ,
pan´ni ma pää paiu pääle,
jala jaani niidu pääle.
Kuri miis tul´l kuusistust,
varas miis varikust,
varast mul ärä ää obõsõ,
jät´t mullõ musta ruuna.
Lät´si ma obõst ot´sima.
”Määnes ol´l su obõnõ?”
“Linaleht, laukiots,
õrasilm, kaputjalg.”
I went to the edge of the forest of the manor,
ollalii lellalii,
my tooth started to ache,
I placed my head on a willow,
my feet I placed on a midsummer meadow.
An evil man came from the fir grove,
a thieving man from the brush,
he stole away my good horse,
left a dirty gelding in its stead.
I went to find my horse.
“What was your horse like?”
“She had a flaxen mane with a part in her hair,
a blaze horse with white stockings.”
