Spill Me Your Milk, Dear Cow!

Helmi Ots Kaarma (1960)

Lehmalüpsja laul. Siis lehm annab paremini piima.

Sööru, sööru, sörgajalga,
anna piima, angussarve!
Mul on pere piima tahtmas,
vööraspere vöida tahtmas:
mehed tulevad metsast koju,
poisid puida raiumast,
lapsed laastu noppimast,
tüdrukud tulevad töölt koju.

A milking song so the cows will give more milk.

Spill it, spill it, cloven hoof,
give me your milk, crooked horn!
I have a family waiting for your milk,
wageworkers wanting your butter:
the men are coming home from the forest,
the boys from chopping wood,
the children from gathering wood chips,
the girls are coming home from work.
