Webinar "Slovenian and Estonian Contemporary School Lore"

On March 1st at 11 AM Estonian time / at 10 AM Slovenian time will be held first webinar within the bilateral research project SLOVENIAN AND ESTONIAN CONTEMPORARY SCHOOL LORE financed by the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
A two-year project aims to observe the development of contemporary socio-cultural processes based on the lore repertoire of Estonian and Slovenian school children and to uncover the relationship between the concept of work (education) and recess (leisure) at school.

Piret Voolaid (ELM): 100 years of experience with collecting and researching school lore in Estonia
Saša Babič (ZRCSAZU): Collecting school lore in Slovenia
Barbara Turk Niskač (ZRC SAZU): Methodological issues in research with children: The use of photography in a study of children's work and play
Reet Hiiemäe (ELM): Abandoned houses, aggressive ghosts and thirst for danger: youth’s personal experience narratives and media moral panics about semi-supernatural challenges

The seminar takes place in cooperation of the Institute of Slovenian Ethnology ZRC SAZU and Department of Folkloristics (ELM) and is supported by the Centre of Excellence in Estonian Studies (TK-145) and Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (BI-EE/20-22-009, ARRS P6-0088).
