ISHS Third Circular: June Updates

Dear ISHS participant,

We are moving closer to the final countdown to the conference.

Are you already packing your suitcase? Don’t forget to bring a coat: it might get chilly in the evenings. Plus an eye mask for sleeping because it never gets dark here at that time of the year!

Programme

Here it is! Read and admire.

Conference venue

The conference will be held on Tallinn University campus (apart from Thursday, June 28, which is in Vihula – see below). Registration for the conference is in Astra building (Narva maantee 29). This is how to get there, if our own website isn’t quite enough and you want a second opinion. You can also take a fancy virtual tour of Tallinn University to familiarise yourself with the venue before the conference.

Day in Vihula (June 28)

The buses to Vihula manor will depart from Tallinn University. The last one will leave at 8:45, so please come no later than 8:30 so that we could all get to Vihula in time. There is no public transport available to/from Vihula. There will be 5 parallel sessions during this day, but for those who want to take a little break, it’s possible to go for a walk or rent a bike to go to the beautiful seaside which is 5 km away.

NB! Please be advised that participation is limited to those who have chosen this option in ISHS 2018 online registration form; we have now reached full capacity for the event and cannot accommodate any more participants.

Lunches

Food is the most essential part of any conference. If you have pre-paid buffet lunches, your lunch tickets will be waiting for you in your name tag. If you haven’t opted for the conference lunches during online registration, but would like to add them now, please inform us until June 15 (the price, 10 euro per lunch can be paid on the spot, but only in case you have notified us in advance). Be ready to present your lunch tickets at the buffet. For others we can recommend lunches at nearby cafes.

Special diets will be catered only for those who indicated them in their registration forms. Unfortunately, we cannot make any changes on the spot. Food information will be available at the lunch buffet tables in Tallinn University and Vihula. At the banquet (Olde Hansa), the waiters will provide the information.

Technical

In all the conference rooms there are VGA connectors. The plenary room (A002) also has an HDMI connector. In Vihula all the rooms are equipped both with VGA and HDMI.

There will be computers in each room. If you are planning to use your MAC computer / iPad, please bring your own adapters. If you have any additional technical requests, please let us know by June 18.

Misc

  • Session hopping may be difficult due to different formats (regular presentations, flash presentations, etc.), but if you have to do it, please try not to disrupt the presentations.
  • A conference T-shirt (15 euro) can be pre-ordered – we’re taking orders until June 17. Send us your size and colour preference and it will be waiting for you.
  • We use type C/F electrical outlet plugs in Estonia. If you are coming from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and some other countries from outside Europe, you might need a plug adapter.
  • Estonian Time zone is GMT+3h in the summer. Set up your watches!

More updates and game

We are happy to introduce a test version of our second conference game: you can play it here. Follow the news on the website and on our Facebook page! All important information will be shared there.

LIVE STREAMING WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL CONFERENCE PLENARY SPEECHES.
