Evangelos Karamanes, PhD, Acting Director at the Hellenic Folklore Research Center, Academy of Athens, Greece

Evangelos Karamanes, PhD, Research Director at the Hellenic Folklore Research Centre (HFRC), Academy of Athens, where he serves since 2002. He’s Acting Director since 2014. His regular work at the HFRC includes the recording and evaluating of the manuscripts and other ethnographic material entering the Archive on an annual basis and editing publications and the Annual of the HFRC. He’s General Secretary of the Historical and Folklore Society of Thessaly, a member of the Société Internationale d’Ethnologie et de Folklore (SIEF), of the Eurethno Network, the Hellenic Folklore Society and the Greek Ethnology Society. His academic interests include material culture, traditional diet and techniques, local identity, popular worship, digital cultural repository management.
