BNN - Belief Narrative Network
The Belief Narrative Network (BNN) is a voluntary association and forms part of the ISFNR. There are at present 70 members of the BNN who come from all over the world, and share the common feature that they are all involved in working on belief narratives. Ankara 2015. CALL FOR PAPERS: BNN CONFERENCE
The Belief Narrative Network Committee is pleased to announce that, as part of the interim ISFNR conference in Ankara 2015, the Belief Narrative Network will be holding its own symposium entitled BELIEFS IN DISCUSSION. While submissions on all aspects of belief narratives are welcome, we would particularly like to highlight the following topics related to the general topics of the ISFNR conference:
* Beliefs in discussion: from conspiracy theories to vampire films.
* Changing beliefs or believing in change: narrative approaches to recent history.
* Legends and religion: exchanging experiences of the supernatural.
* How continuous are belief narratives? The dynamics of the longue durée.
The next ISFNR interim conference will be held at the Hacettepe University in Ankara, Turkey, in September 1-6, 2015. The deadline for the abstracts is March 15, 2015
Please, note that when submitting your abstract you should indicate that you would like to participate in the BNN symposium.

Piret Paal. Estonian legends. Mythological diseases II. Malaria
New volume in the folklore series "Monumenta Estoniae Antiquae". Piret Paal worked with the department of folkloristics of the Estonian Literary Museum to bring this major publication to you.
Piret Paal presents a thorough overview of halltõbi malaria as a mythological disease, its early
representation and common cures, as well as the main characteristics of related beliefs and narratives. For comparison, an overview of malaria in Finnish-Karelian heritage is presented. The main bulk of the publication comprises of belief and custom records and legends of malaria recorded in the Estonian Folklore Archives and the Finnish Literature Society archives.
