Henrik Bergqvist is Senior Lecturer at the Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science, University of Gothenburg. His research interests lie in language description and documentation of indigenous languages spoken in Middle and South America with a focus on epistemic marking systems. Henrik has done extensive fieldwork in Mexico and Colombia on Mayan and Chibchan languages and his research has focused on pragmatic and semantic aspects of the speaker’s and hearer’s epistemic perspectives, as they are found in linguistic categories such as evidentiality, egophoricity, and engagement.
