The Swing Is in a Good Spot

Helene Kukk Sangaste (1962)

Käü, käü, äl´lükene,
äte-hää-kaike,
käü, kiige, keset murru!
Kesse äl´lü siiä tennü?
Küläveli, ää veli,
teinü kiigu keset murru,
kun ei kaltak kaalikolka,
neistütegi nin´nijalga.

Swing on, sweet rocker,
[chorus,]
swing on, swing, on the village green!
Who built the rocker here?
A village boy, such a good boy,
built the swing on the village green,
so that the corner of [the maiden's] kerchief won't get wet,
the flower foot [maiden] won't get damp.
