Come to the St. John's Bonfire!

Marie Sepp Kolga-Jaani (1937)

Tulge jaaniku tulele,
jaaniku, jaaniku,
tulge tulda oidemaie,
karga kirget kaitsemaie!
Kes ei tule jaaniku tulele,
saagu mardini magama,
ristipäini ringutama!

Tulge jaaniku tulele,
tooge puida tullessagi!
Kes ei tule jaaniku tulele,
jõulus pöörgu teise kül´le,
teises jõulus teise kül´le!

Come to the St. John's bonfire,
jaaniku, jaaniku,
come tend the fire,
be on guard for the sparks!
Whoever doesn't come to the St. John's bonfire,
may they sleep 'til Martinmas,
yawn and stretch 'til Ascension Day!

Come to the St. John's bonfire,
bring wood when you come!
Whoever doesn't come to the St. John's bonfire,
may they turn on one side for this Christmas,
and the other side for next Christmas!
